Business Dinner Etiquette – Food and Drinks
A business dinner is an excellent way to build working relationships. The relaxed atmosphere of a business dinner may make your guests more receptive (открытый, восприимчивый) to a sales pitch (презентация товара) or business proposal than they would be in an office. Understanding how to hold effective dinner talks can increase the chances that they will lead to business growth.
Food and Drinks
When choosing a dish, consider the ease of eating it. For example, lobster would generally make a poor choice, as it’s messy (трудно есть), and a pasta such as penne or ziti would be preferable to spaghetti or linguine. Only order alcoholic beverages if the others in your party are doing so, but don’t feel pressured to drink if you don’t want to.
Paying the Bill
In general, the host or the highest-ranking attendee (старший по званию участник) will pay for the meal. If you’re organizing the meal and you expect attendees to pay their own share, discuss this ahead of time or order using separate bills. Even if someone else will pay, it’s always wise to have enough cash on hand to cover your own portion of the bill.
