Structure of “Used to”
Always use a base verb after used to:
Used to + Base Verb
Example: I used to live in Japan. Now I live in Canada.- Раньше я жила в Японии. Сейчас я живу в Канаде.
Example: She used to play soccer when she was a child.- Она играла в футбол, когда была ребенком.
There are two different phrases depending on the situation.
Used to is for positive sentences.
Example: She used to like swimming.- Она раньше любила плавать.
Use to is for negative sentences and questions.
Example: I didn’t use to have a car.- Раньше у меня не было машины.
