Rules for Comma Usage. Tip #5: Commas in Dates
When writing a date in month-day-year format, set off the year with commas.
Example: I was born on Sunday, May 12, 1968.- Я родился в воскресенье, 12 мая 1968 года.
If you are using the day-month-year format, however, commas are unnecessary.
Example: Applications are due by 31 December 2016.- Заявки должны быть поданы до 31 декабря 2016 года.
If you are referencing a day of the week and a date, use a comma:
Example: On Tuesday, April 13, at three o’clock, there will be a meeting for all staff. – Во вторник, 13 апреля, в три часа дня состоится встреча для всех сотрудников.
When you are referencing only a month and year, you don’t need a comma.
Example: The region experienced record rainfall in March 1999.- В марте 1999 года в регионе выпало рекордное количество осадков.
