Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev took a video of a satellite flying by the International Space Station (ISS).
Artemyev’s 25-second clip, posted
on his social media channels Wednesday, shows the box-shaped
satellite floating against the backdrop of Earth’s blue atmosphere. Artemyev is
part of a rotating three-person crew, who orbit around Earth and perform
scientific research aboard the space station. His mission in March was the
first ISS-bound launch of 2018.
The captivating image came only days
after a jellyfish-shaped exhaust trail left by a rocket from a Russian military
space launch sparked conspiracies about a UFO sighting.
An
overnight meteor landing in
central Russia on Thursday has also led to social media speculation over UFO
sightings, as well as evoking memories
of a 10,000-ton meteor that crashed in a ball of fire near Chelyabinsk in 2013.
