View over 50 sculptures and compositions
The New Year Ice Sculpture Festival is to take place in the Russian capital — 28 December till 12 January, in Park Pobedy on Poklonnaya Gora. The festival is themed around great Russian achievements (великие достижения русских). The sculptors have been inspired by architectural monuments, scientific discoveries, great works of art, significant historical events related to Russia. A part of the ice works will be displayed in the street. Find the other works inside two ice pavilions in the Park.
You will see ice replicas of the Moscow Kremlin and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour; the Space composition about the first flight of a man into Earth orbit. Artists will recreate historical events, namely Battle of Kulikovo (Куликовская битва), transition of Russian troops through the Alps (переход через Альпы) led by Alexander Suvorov. Sculptors will depict feasts held by the Ancient Rus princes, with the smallest ice element displayed, 15 cm high Prince’s cup.
