The Colon – Other Uses
1. When telling the time the colon can be used to separate hours from minutes, e.g.: 10:15 a.m. — Когда мы сообщаем время, чтобы отделить часы от минут.
2. When expressing ratios of two numbers (with no space after the colon), e.g.: 1:1 — Когда говорится о соотношении двух чисел (пробел после двоеточия не ставится): 1:1 — один к одному.
3. In correspondence, like this. — В переписке:
Example: Dear Mr. Brandreth:
Attention: Accounts payable
В британском английском привычнее будет такое написание:
Example: Dear Mr. Brandreth,
Attention: Accounts payable
