Participial Adjectives
Some participles (like ‘interested’ or ‘interesting’) can be used as adjectives. We usually use the past participle (ending in -ed) to talk about how someone feels:
Examples: 1. She’s interested in history (NOT: She’s really interesting in history). — Она интересуется историей. 2. He was amused to hear his little son singing in the bath. — Ему было весело слышать, как маленький сын поет в ванной.
We usually use the present participle (ending in -ing) to talk about the person, thing, or situation which has caused the feeling.
Examples: She’s a really interesting woman. She’s travelled all over the world and speaks five languages. — Она очень интересная женщина. Она путешествовала по миру и говорит на пяти языках. 2. This film is really amusing. — Этот фильм действительно смешной.
