The Use of Tenses in Time Clauses
We use time clauses to provide information about events in the past, present and future.
Example: Do you remember when you had your first interview? (the Past Simple) — Вы помните, когда у вас было первое интервью?
Example: I hate it when there’s no one in the office. (True all the time, the Present Simple) — Я ненавижу, когда в офисе никого нет.
Example: We’ll go when you’re ready. (Future time — also the Present Simple) — Мы пойдем, когда вы будете готовы.
In English we use a present tense, not will, to refer to future time in a time clause.
Example: Can you look at this before you leave? (NOT before you will leave) — Вы можете посмотреть это перед уходом?
