“Due To”, “Because of” and “Because”
Because of and due to are compound prepositions, usually followed by a noun object. We use them to give a reason for something.
Example: The flight was delayed due to the storm. — Рейс был задержан из-за шторма.
Example: Because of the hot weather we went to the pool. — Из-за жаркой погоды мы пошли в бассейн.
In more formal writing due to is sometimes followed by a noun clause introduced by “the fact that”.
Example: Due to the fact that the payment came late the order will be delivered tomorrow. — В связи с тем, что платеж пришел поздно, заказ будет доставлен завтра.
Please note that it is incorrect to use due to with a verb. For example, “due to my father has gone on a business trip” is incorrect. We can say “due to my father’s business trip” instead. In such cases as, because or since can also be used:
Example: Because my father has gone on a business trip, he won’t be at my birthday party. — Из-за того, что папа уехал в командировку, он не придет на мой день рождения.
