There are several ways in which you can make requests in English. The method you choose depends both on the situation and on the relationship between you and the other person.
Let’s imagine you need someone to send you a report by Friday. Here are some examples of what you could say:
Can you send me the report by Friday?
Could you send the report by Friday, please?
Can I ask you to send me the report by Friday, please?
Do you think it would be possible to send me the report by Friday, please?
Would you mind sending me the report by Friday, please?
