50 Works by The Father of Russian Futurism
An important figure in Russian art of the early 20th century, David Burliuk (1882, Kharkov — 1967, New York was a poet, painter, critic, and publisher who became the center of the Russian Futurist movement (направление). Burliuk was one of the first to publish the poetry of Velimir Khlebnikov and to recognize Vladimir Mayakovsky’s brilliance. It was largely because of his efforts that the Russian avant-garde became known (становиться известным) in Europe and the United States.
