Alexander Loginov ensured Russia’s men completed a unique relay double with victory in the 4×7.5km event at the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof, Germany.
The men’s team of Loginov, Dmitry Malyshko, Evgeniy Garanichev and Maxim Tsvetkov matched the women’s result earlier in the 4x6km relay (эстафета) to make it a golden day for Russia.
It is the first time Russia has managed the relay clean sweep (беспроигрышная серия) in 13 years, with the men using just eight spare rounds to claim the win in 1:20:54.3, 1:01.1 ahead of France.
“When I crossed the finish line I felt pride (гордость) in the team first of all,” said Loginov afterwards. “It is, at the very least, extremely nice to achieve such a victory.
