Moscow’s Tretyakov Galllery has collaborated with the American perfume company Demeter Library of Fragrance to capture the scent and atmosphere of the museum’s well-known paintings.
There are eight painting-inspired scents (духи) avialable: Ivan Shishkin and Konstantin Savitsky’s Morning in a Pine Forest, Valentin Serov’s Girl with Peaches, Mikhail Vrubel’s Lilacs, Vasily Polenov’s Granny’s Orchard, Arkhip Kuindzhi’s A Birch Grove, Aleksandr Golovin’s Umbrian Valley, Ivan Aivazovsky’s Black Sea and Ivan Khrutsky’s Flowers and Fruits.
Demeter Library of Fragrance produces single scent fragrances (ароматы) inspired by everyday objects and experiences from “Fresh laundry” and “Baby Powder”, to “Dirt” and “Funeral Home”.
The collection is currently only available from the Tretyakov Gallery souvenir shop on Lavrushinsky pereulok, though the museum has plans to launch (запустить) an online store in 2019.
