A northern fur seal was born in the Moscow Zoo for the first time in 20 years.
The seal pup (детеныш) named Roger is almost two months old. He was recently transferred (переведен) from an indoor space to his fellow seals in an open-air enclosure (огороженное место, вольер) in the new section of the Moscow Zoo near the pedestrian bridge. The pup weighs around 12 kg and mostly feeds on his mother’s milk. The Moscow Zoo has tried to breed fur seals for many years.
The pup was named Roger. He is two months old now and his diet mostly consists of his mother’s milk but soon he will start eating fish like his mature neighbours.
