Europe’s largest capsule hotel has opened its doors in Moscow.
Based
close to the capital’s Paveletsky railway station, the Qube Hotel offers 96
private sleeping pods with communal kitchens and bathrooms. Each of the pods
squeeze in just enough room for a mattress, power socket, and shelves —
although anyone looking for a luxurious upgrade can book a double capsule.
Prices start at just 990 ($16) rubles for a single night, but can drop to 800
rubles ($13) for anyone planning a cramped but cosy month-long stay. Moscow’s
first capsule hotels began appearing across the city back in 2013, following
the concept’s growing success in Japan. As well as a handful of dedicated
hotels, travellers can still find the sleeping pods for a much-needed nap at
the city’s Sheremetyevo Airport.
