Artists from across the globe are being invited to take part in this year’s Artmossphere biennale in Moscow.
It’s the first time that international artists
have been invited to apply for the street wave art festival, which made its
home in the Russian capital back in 2014. Artists with a street art background are being
asked to submit potential projects exploring the theme “Offline”. Organisers
say the topic reflects the biennale’s own push to get back to basics and
reflect on street art’s roots. “People are getting tired of growing flows of
information,” the team says. “For a few years already, there’s been a trend
of growing interest towards everything local, authentic and autonomous: a swing
back from globalisation. This trend is focused on site specific art and working
with local context rather than with a digital standardised one.”
The main exhibition will take place at the
Excise Storehouse at the Moscow Winzavod Centre for Contemporary Art between 30
August and 17 October 2018.
