Present Simple Tense. Use #4: Now (Non-Continuous Verbs)
Speakers sometimes use the present simple to
express the idea that an action is happening or is not happening now. This can
only be done with non-continuous verbs and certain mixed verbs. Pay attention
to which verbs can be used in this way.
Example: I am here now.- Сейчас я здесь.
The verb “to be” is considered to be
mixed. We can not say: I am being here now.
Example: He needs help right now.- Ему нужна помощь прямо
сейчас.
The verb “to need” is also
non-continuous. We never say: I am
needing help right now.
Example: Do you have your mobile phone? – У вас есть
мобильный телефон?
The verb “to have” is an example of a
mixed verb. When talking of physical possession we never say: I am having my phone.
